I made cap covers for my plane; not because of this, but because if I leave it out when visiting someplace (she's hangared at home) and it rains, the wing tanks tend to take on quite a bit of water. What I did was take a three empty Coke cans, and snipped two to be about three inches high (for the wing tanks), and left one the full height (for the header) and just removed the top. I spray painted them white, because as any gal knows, accessories are SO important ;-). I got some flexible rubber tubing, split it the long way, and glued it to the edge. I bought some suction cups from the crafts store, put one big one on the top of the can, and ran nylon cord off the top to three smaller ones. So, when I stop someplace for the night, I place a cap cover over each of the caps, and suction cup them to the plane for the night. No water, dust, pollen, etc. gets in, and they don't blow off.
