You don't have to be a part of an organized event to give Young Eagles
rides.

You can do them individually. And I have done so. My favorite one
was where a couple in front of the restaurant asked me if I knew where
they could buy their (obviously fascinated) twelve-year-old a plane ride.
I was able to say 'well, you can't *buy* a ride at this airport, but if
you'll
hold on a moment I can get you some paper-work for a program that
will let me give him a ride for free right now!' Boy were they pleased!

The form, and parental consent are a good thing [TM] in any case. You
shouldn't be taking a minor away in your airplane without his or her
parents' agreement. Having it in writing doesn't hurt, either.

A parent whose child you take flying when they didn't
really want the child to do so can do a number of things
to your life, all of them bad! And, to be fair, parents *should*
be given the opportunity to say 'yes' or 'no.'
