Hartmut. I would put my money on a scuffed up piston. I've seen another plane with a similar problem of overheating and it turned out to be one very scuffed piston that was heating the oil through friction, even though nothing showed from tests. I think you're right about the baffles. There should not be that much heat change from a baffle gone astray. I would suggest that the fellow with the problem have a bore scope look in the cylinders or pull them off, as much as he hates to do it. If it is a piston, and it does give up, it will be on climb out, not sitting on the ground being contemplated. Jon Page.
