Diesel will grow algae if left in a tank and not used. I personally
know two people who have worked extensivly with diesel that are now
deadly allergic to it, even a sniff. The anti-fungel, anti grow stuff
they put in the fuel to keep this fungus from growing is said to be
Agent Orange!!! This would make sense, as that's what it is, a
defoliant. They give it a much nicer name, but that's what it is said
to be. Maybe that's why I'm starting to defoliate on the top of my
head. As I run a small engine shop, I see just how bad the gas is when
left sitting, especially in small quantities. The light stuff
evaporates and leaves all the gum behind to turn into stinking green
glue. About 25% of the fuel we buy should be used in blacktop.
