I rebuilt the fuel tanks on my coupe recently and I found an oddity that I
don't have an answer for. The left main has the baffle on the inboard
side of the tank where the level indicator is located. The right tank has
the baffle located where the fill cap is located. This puts the baffle in
both tanks in the same location on the part of the tank that forms the
sides and rear and by the way, it is spot welded in place. Could be that
it was cheaper to make all of the tank pieces the same. I think that the
purpose of the baffle is to reduce sloshing from causing the level
indicator to bounce around. Don't know real reason. There is NO way of
getting around the baffle. I have pictures of the interior of the tank if
you would like to see how the baffle is configured.

I tried this method last summer without much results.. Seems like there is

a baffle surrounding the sump area that won't let me reach into it with
the

siphon. If any crud is present I think this is where it would collect.
Was

I doing something wrong??
