I worked for 5 years as the Chief Engineer of a ship that carried over 1.5 million gallons of DFM (distilled fuel marine) a very highly refined diesel oil that was used for my boilers and diesel engines. And to think that a less than an ounces of enriched Uranium would provide the same energy output as all that oil. At a Flank bell (pedal to the metal) we burned 2000 Gallons per hour. We did have a large turnover of fuel and the fuel did contain an algaecide to keep down the grass in the tanks down. The additive came in the fuel and it was NOT agent orange. I disremember the chemical name but the MSDS sheet considered the fuel much more of a hazard than the additive.
