OK, so the sysadmin should be held accountable because his system was
cracked? So if you leave my car unlocked for a minute, and someone
steals it, oh well, it's your own fault?

Get serious. If you leave a program with a known hole for an extended
time, you're being stupid, but that doesn't mean you should be held at
fault for being cracked. Just because I leave my house unlocked, doesn't
mean you can have my TV set.
