Thought I'd throw this out to the masses and see if anybody had any
thoughts.

I just recently got a new Dell Inspiron 8100 which (upon arrival) was
relieved of the standard virus that had been installed, and was given
a fresh copy of RH 7.1. I Ximianized it, and used redcarpet to install
all the latest/greatest updates.

The problem that I've noticed is that the exhaust fans don't seem to
come on, and the system is starting to run a bit warm.

The interesting bit is that they come on full bore when I boot
winbloze. I downloaded a dell diagnostic tool set (bootable floppies,
running under DOS) and they even come on for them...

I've checked linux-laptop.net and not found mention of this problem.
There's a yahoo groups forum on dell laptops, but the folks there don't
seem to have any ideas.

The lm_sensors stuff seems to come with RH 7.1, so I tried to get that
to work but sensors-detect doesn't find any sensors.

I've sent a message into Dell tech support, but I dunno if they'll help
since Linux is now and "unsupported" operating system.

I was hoping perhaps any of you might have an idea?

It comes bundled with Windows(TM).
