The simple payroll Richard described applies pretty well and rapidly in a shearing shed when as soon as the last sheep goes down the chute they are counted and shearers paid.
btw, it would have been useful to add that if the features Richard wants are not supported by the .chk file format, changes would have to be made directly in the C++ source code. GnuCash completely replaced the old Scheme-based code for check layouts with these text-based configuration files. While they are described in https://www.gnucash.org/docs/v5/C/gnucash-guide/check_format_info.html many users will have to re-interpret their specific file locations according to https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Configuration_Locations Alternatively, perhaps AI could generate an external script, probably from a GnuCash book saved in a SQL format.
