What attracted people to the Basel Mission? I had two acquaintances working in the skilled trades who were part of the Basel Mission. They seemed to exhibit all the characteristics of the Scheduled Castes including physical appearance. Their names were Manohar Leslie and Wally Kunder. ML could speak German fluently and became a foreman in Siemens India. The only thing that hampered his career in the Training Centre in Saki Naka, Bombay was his red and bloodshot eyes at work every morning. Both these guys were fond of the bottle.
