I don't think Maria de Jesus has any relationship with Lopes Mendes! She is the
daughter of Antonio Martires Lopes and Palmira (I may be wrong) Lopes. Martires
Lopes has some publications to his credit and was the director of tourism in
Goa until he left Goa. He was also responsible in organising the
collection of the then Biblioteca Nacional of which he was the Conservador with
an excellent card catalogue which we still use. She is married to Artur
Teodoro de Matos. Her book Goa Setecentista is translated into english,
published by Manohar, New Delhi and is available in the Central Library in
Panjim.

Maria de Jesus is grand-daughter of great A. Lopes Mendes (author of

'Índia Portugueza', 1886), wife of old friend Artur Teodoro de Matos:

Paulo's parents. She's really GOOD!
