Dear Gilbert:
I certain wont dispute it, but will respect that your football days are over, -- but wont you agree that those who are right now on the ground have the right to speak their minds about whats good or bad for them? After all, its the Goan public who is affected, and specifically those who have to put their kids through this tangled education system.
You couldnt be more right about shooting breeze, for thats what some of these cyber debates have turned out to be. But for what its worth, these debates do create awareness and engage Goan minds into positive thinking (hopefully).
-------- GL says: <I would sincerely like to hear from the principles of Goa's high schools and colleges. It would help to get answers to some question on both subjects. Regards, GL> --------
This is not about knowing the views of the principled Principals of Goa Schools, but more so about knowing the motives of some unprincipled politicians, who want to push their own political agenda.
In the past there have been protests from the Goan public, school Principals, educators, teachers, parents and students alike, regarding the education system. Unfortunately, what prevailed was some politicians self-serving expediency rather than the principles of democracy.
Finally, all Govt funded schools had to toe-the-line, given no choice, for want of Govt grants; so by and large the education system succumbed to the whims of a few conniving creatures.
This unforgiving system of education trust upon the Goan people is going to affect the new generation. It is a serious matter and must be accorded the attention it deserves. The basis on which the educational foundation rests will invariably determine the future of our children. If this new generation has to compete with the best and brightest on a world platform, then the education system must be so geared to give the Goan kids an equal footing as with the rest, in an increasingly competitive world.
Please note that you and I are products of an education system that helped us get where we are. Dont get me wrong; I know that to some living abroad, Goa is close at heart, as to those who live in Goa. All I am saying is -- lets work together for the benefit of our homeland Goa.
If each of us can do a little; together, we will have done a lot.
Thank you,
Regards, Joe Vaz
