(1) You suggest that Goans should 'move away' from Govt/politicians; in other words, Goans should find their own solution to the problem presented by the current education system. This is already happening -- thanks to the "tangled" education system, there are now scores of private schools mushrooming all over Goa, but this alternative (option) comes with a "price tag." People who can afford, do send their kids to these private schools, and don't ask what happens to those who can't afford it .well, you do the math. Response: This is a great dialogue. I hope we are both educating each other; but not going around in circles. I have done the math! You seek an A+ education for free! On the issue of price tag: "You get what you pay for." If one cannot afford the price, parents need to give to the school in time and effort. I have suggested on the GoaNet (and touch base with Miguel of the AldonaNet and Helga) many ways the youth could improve outside the class room with voluntary efforts from parents and community leaders. Jose Vaz writes: (2) Coming to your question on why not create an "Education Corporation" to 'overhaul the current system'? So, what ever happened to the Education Department? What can an "Education Corporation" (comprising mostly of politicians) do, that an Education Department (staffed with educators and professionals) can't? Importantly, the Govt needs to explain why a team of qualified educators and professionals are not considered competent in handling this crucial matter. Response: You threw a curved ball with the above comments. Your last posting was a long list of diatribes of how the present system (run by educators and professionals) is terrible. To me as a distant observer of the GoaNet, the government does not need to make a case for change in the system. You and many others have made it unmistakably in your several postings and specifically called the professionals incompetent - please read the posting. The distinct impression I get is that you say, "the present system is terrible but do not change it." Or am I mis-reading you? From a recent posting (not yours) we are reading from Goans who "love to talk from both sides of their mouth". If you were the Education Czar "what" specifically would you change if anything and "how" would you do it? We have finished with "why" would you do it!
