Santosh,
When I first moved to Canada, I gave some thought on changing my name(s).
Lobo means wolf in Portuguese and Spanish. Mervyn is a corruption of the Welsh
word Merlin, which in turn means 'friend.' By translating my names, I would
have the quintessential North American name i.e. Friendly Wolf.
However, this would only be a translation. What you are suggesting above is
more radical. You, like most N. Americans I know, are more concerned about the
future than wallowing in the past. If I were to change my name, I would not
want to harp on where I came from. Instead, I would want my name to reflect
what my aspirations are. And my aspirations are to go to the moon. Just like
some people are attracted to money, jewels and other shinny objects, I am
attracted to the moon. The moon is my shinny object. I can see it right now.
Moon Shine
