R> Static Maps is a service provided from Google servers that returns an R> image based on the supplied URL. R> Maps API v3 is a client-side script. All I know is the Static Maps docs ( http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/staticmaps/ ) say I need a Key, but I found I didn't. And for API, the docs say I need a key, but the threads, http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.org.google.api.maps/111257 say I don't, for API3. So can the person in charge here at Google give or point to documentation as to just how much of Static Maps does not need a Key please. Else for me "they say it doesn't work, but it does" is just as confidence shaking as "they say it does work, but it doesn't". If they say it needs a Key, but it doesn't, then isn't that a bug, that should be fixed, by closing the loophole, so it no longer works without a key? Or is this all just a hit and miss operation? Please (person at Google in charge,) make Static Maps behave as documented. Or change the documentation to match the behavior. Please don't say "you are using an undocumented area, so you're on your own, good luck", as the documents say "first, get a key", I recall. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps API" group.
