Version 3 of the API doesn't need a key. It's documented here: http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/v3/ Version 2 of the API does need a key. That is documented here: http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/ > So can the person in charge here at Google give or point to > documentation as to just how much of Static Maps does not need a Key > please. The Static Maps docs and Terms of Service say that a key is required. While that *implies* that the maps will not work without a key, it does not say that: merely that you are required to use one. That's a subtle difference, but important. As I said earlier, just because it happens to work now does not mean that it will continue to do so. If you're that concerned about it, just get a key. You could register it as a formal bug if you like: http://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/issues/list Andrew --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps API" group.
