Very interesting work there, William, what with a wrapper to call setMap
after the viewport has changed. Though, your examples have the opposite
click order desired: the one where the markers show above the basin
line, the clicks all fall onto the basin; and the one where the markers
render below the basin polygon has clicks fall onto the markers properly.
I already rewrote the app, and got some nice results out of it, by
parsing the XML/KML, creating Markers, and adding them to the Map. I'm
leaving the older version up for the benefit of whoever is debugging the
KmlLayer behavior.
