Jim,

We've used the HP D330 slim towers at the division since 2003, with only one failed PSU from 9 boxes as the only glitch. I have put lots of DX6100s in practices. No failures yet. What I like is they have good cooling solutions appropriate to a P4, which are very hot. Lots of clone desktops have shit quality cooling and PSUs and getting GPs to buy clone desktops with good quality parts is too much trouble.

The new HP DX5150 has Athlon 64 3GHz. Normally I don't use Athlons for GPs, not because the processors aren't great, but their standard cooling solutions aren't as robust as P4 hardware. The HP boxes will do better I'm sure. If you are building your own, like Horst and I do for ourselves, there are excellent, quiet 3rd party cooling and case options.

I agree with Horst too re his personal case preference, Sonata II has been ducted for P4 operation and are very quiet as well. I use Antec SOHO server cases for practice servers as they have lots of metal, good fans and PSU quality. Yet to see a failure there, either.

At home I have a Sonata, an SLK-3700BQE, and a Performance Plus 1000AMG SOHO server case with a side window, now replaced by the TX 1050B and 1080AMG.
