Yes well I am in the awkward position of being on the IT committee
(recently chair) of the division and having to tell them there is no way
anyone was coming in to install a 'data extraction tool' on my computer
without a hell of a lot more information etc etc etc

John,

We all are.

Worse, our nuts are in the mangle to boot, and many may go along
'blindly', until a disaster occurs.

Oh, and at the same time, we are all expected to become accredited. So
tell me how an 'accredited' organisation could be expected to drop the
ball so badly on risk-management.

For years I've had to annually supply a summary of my qualifications and
experience to our public liability insurers, because I touch practice
computer systems. Divisions without qualified staff, who've not
previously provided technical support, may not be aware of this issue.

I think, however, the likelihood will be that most GPs will self-protect
and the initiative will fail, but it may take us with it.

Greg
