Greetings All,
I apologise for being absent for this entire episode. I was travelling
intersate, so was unable to jump into the fray to assist Horst.
Elizabeth, it's time you let us upgrade your installation. My support
guys can assist you to ensure that Argus will run as a "service" whether
you are running on Lunix, Mac or Windows. Not only can the action of
checking for incoming messages be executed automatically in this manner,
but Argus also utilises services for these tasks:
- keeping your address book up to date from our LDAP server
- executing regular backups
- archiving of the database
- detecting file drops, for the purpose of sending them
Once it has been configured, you should never need to open Argus manually.
Regards

I have an older version of Argus installed, and it runs on a headless machine
with a Firebird server.
Hassle is, i can call it up through ssh, but haven't sorted out the correct
code for the cron job for it to run automated.
so we haven't actually got it fully implemented yet.
it does receive test messages, but I have to manually call up Argus to run and
check the mail.
This was to be OK to go with a new version, but I haven't asked yet if it is
ready to go...
