OSCAR has over 200 users in Canada now.

Growth in British Columbia has been steady - we are up to about 45 practitioners using it here.

Folks do seem to 'get' the floss thing, when it is explained.

...time will tell....

Jel,

Please tell us more about OSCAR.

Greg

Hi Greg
Sorry to be slow to get to this. Reading some fo the Ultimate EMR thread jogged my memory.

I am fairly new around here so it may be that folks know a lot about OSCAR.

OSCAR is an open-source EMR out of McMaster University under the helm of Dr David Chan.

It is one of the approved EMRs in Ontario and is in the approval process in BC right now. For 'approval' read 'funding'. There are quite a few BC users and we don't care too much about govt funding because we have _our_ EMR which is free....and hardware almost gets given away these days....and OSCAR only needs low-end machines.

OSCAR runs 2 different billing systems (Ontario and BC), lab import, prescribing (drugref), charting, chronic disease management flowsheets, document storage etc etc, and a personally controlled health record, MyOSCAR has just been added.

Enough from me - I am sounding like one of those be-suited guys with shiny shoes and slick laptops who will show you everything on their machine, but not let you touch it yourself ;-)

Regards all
