AFAIK the cheapest way to get SBS 2000 is a second hand copy of Windows SBS 2003 Premium. The MSSQL installer works and licenses on a Windows 2003 standard server. There are a couple of these on Ebay US at ~ US$600.

Peter,

And how do you know they'll reactivate it after you've installed it? Does the seller peel the little sticker with the licence key off the server case it came from?

At least there are no upgrade paths with MS server products anymore, so it won't be one that someone has used to get a valid licence for a current version.
