Hi All
A software development fellow (medtech type) is visiting. Do you have any
wish list items you might like to recommend for medical software?
The fellow is a software development consultant from India. He is visiting
me next week. When we spoke to day he said he is interested in discussing
improvements I can suggest to make MT32 the best product -
James,
Interface design is such an individual issue. The 'tabbed dialogue
box'/'Outlook Bar' in MD/BP do that much better than Medtech, which is
much more 'chopped-up'.
The only 'functional paradigm' I know about refers to programming
language design, not interface design. Much of the design dynamic of MD
has been to reduce keyboard input as much as possible, on the basis that
most GPs are lousy typists.
I also have to say that a text-driven plain sheet sounds very DOS to me,
even if there is some intelligent parsing response to the ?free text? or
?coded? input.
Back to wish lists: What we [Sydney IM&T Officers] asked HCN for nearly
three years ago, was an automatic updating facility. This is even more
important now we have monthly PBS updates.
Lots of practices just don't bother with them, despite the problems,
because the monthly frequency of updating via disk or downloaded update
file is just too time consuming.
We briefly had 4-monthly MD updates, instead of 3-monthly, but with lots
of practices now having broadband, the absence of automatic updates is a
huge omission by any vendor. If other products have it, they should be
promoting themselves by it.
You might also mention to the visiting developer that he should have a
look at the NEHTA website.
