Are TeX files from 4.2 really going to work with the 4.1 gregorio
program? I thought they wouldn't...
The version check between compiled scores and GregorioTeX is only
dependent on the major version. Thus all 4.x TeX files will work (in
the sense that they won't raise a version mismatch error) with
the 4.1 binary which is included in TeXLive 2016. Features (new or
modified) which rely on some change in the binary will not function, but
all pure TeX changes will.
What I had in mind was to release a 4.1.x with these patches and
upload it to CTAN, I think that would be the less confusing option in
terms of version numbering... What do you think?
It might be slightly less confusing to do that. More work for us, but
probably more transparent to the user.
