no, that doesn't seem to be the problem, if only because I've set the
initial to 0 (and the R/ sign appears in the middle of the gabc string - I'm
trying to set the Chant responses for the Orate Fratres and the Domine non
sum dignus incidentally).

One curio I found was that the tex output from Gregorio runs as follows:

(The text reads Suscipe etc.) What I find interesting is that there 'seems'
to be something missing in \syllable{}{ } ... Is this the case?
