This one has me stumped. I have been helping Collin trace this bug down.
Essentially, when I run gregorio to produce a chant with versicles and
responses, such as:

        (c4)() <sp>R/</sp>.() Su(g)scĂ(h)pi(h)at ...

I get the all V's & R's correctly. In my latex I see:

        \syllable{}{\Rbar.}{}{1}{S}{u}{0}{}{%
        }%
        %
        \syllable{S}{u}{}{0}{sc}{\char 237}{0}{}{%
        \glyph{\char 17}{g}{h}{0}%
        }%

Thus the \Rbar is present and appears in the pdf. So all is well.

However, Collin, running the same thing gets:

        \syllable{}{ }{}{1}{S}{u}{0}{}{%
        }%

Naturally, the R is not present in his pdf!

He has reinstalled gregorio, and verified he is running 1.0. The only
difference I can see is that I am running Mac OSX Snow Leopard and he is
running cygwin and Tex Live 2009 on a Dell Inspiron 9400 running Windows 7.
Perhaps this is an issue with the windows/cygwin flavor of gregorio? Otherwise
I am stumped.
