Yes.

Let's say you're making toast. When the toast pops up, do you need  
someone to tell you “You just finished toasting some bread”? You  
already know, because you were right there and you can see the result  
right in front of you.

But if you're reading the newspaper (perhaps with some loud music  
going) while the bread is in the toaster, it would be neat if a magic  
floating bubble faded in on the corner of the paper saying “Your toast  
is done”.
