I've never been policeman but my association with them and other legal
services is that if you are approaching another vehicle such as a motorcycle
they are trained to start scanning the motorcycle for such stickers as they
approach head on. Because you can't see the plate on the back till you pass.
Therefore if the officer sees you have an out of date inspection for your
state he can turn around and give you a ticket. If he sees that you have an
out of state type sticker he won't bother you on that point. So as I know
they make it a point after the end of each month to look for out of date
stickers that have expired the previous month. Of course if he is behind you
then he has to wait till he can see the sticker or for you to do something to
pull you and he knows what state your from by then. But then too it's net to
know some of the on goings that others have to comply with in other states
and how their system works. You might not like the way other states do
things and if you know about them it can keep you out of harms way. Or if
inclined to become involved in your on states political system to weed out
the things you want to see changed.
