John, your custom "dash" looks very clean and nice. If you were just going to install
a Valentine, where would you mount it on a GTS? I.e., would you fabricate a dash
that's smaller than yours and fits the Valentine (and not use the remote)? Or, would
you mount the remote alone down in the area below the windscreen (and mount the main
unit under the fairing (e.g., like maybe mounting the main unit just behind the little
screen in the lower front fairing)?

Btw, your chain oiling system worked fantastic on the 9 day ride I took to Montana
last fall. I like it a lot.

Finally, in looking at the cockpit of your rally bike, it appears that the large
device on the upper dash is a GPS unit, what's the thing on the left handle bar?

The main unit would not work well mounted under the seat. It be mounted
without a lot metal in in it's line of sight to the radar. The frame would
be a problem and the height would work against you.

It could be mounted in the front plastic and sealed in a plastic bag to
protect it from the weather. Even the remote needs some protection from the
weather. The little phone plug connecters used to power it and the cases
are not water proof or even weather proof. I have had to return mine for a
rebuild because of internal corrosion caused by water getting into it. They
fixed it for free but it was still an inconvenience.

Below is a jepg of my installation...it won't get through the GTS list
server though.

John
