Mike,
as you know my windscreen is dark smoke as well.
Tint or even painted surfaces will not affect radar reception - only
metal.
It may cause some deterioration of the laser pick up, but as I
mentioned with laser traveling at the speed of light, about the only
good it's for is to tell you been caught and pull over. Or that you are
in a military range - whenever going out by Fallon, NV my laser signal
goes off. Scares the s**t out of me, because I'm not usually going 55 in
the desert areas of Nv.
The other thing too is radar waves will travel thru / around your body
so the rear pick up is unaffected.

Subject: Re: Radar Detectors (Now Valentine Remote)

Dave, thanks for your input. I think I'll mount the unit in the dash =
like you described. That way, I'll have the option of pulling it off =
the GTS to use in my cage. And, if (when) a law enforcement officer =
approaches the bike, I can remove my gloves and place them in the dash =

(to cover up the Valentine).

One final question, if I mount it way down in the dash, will the radar =

detector work since it'd have to transmit through my R. Weiss Dark =
windscreen? =20
