Thanks..........some of the new radar bar mounts are nice, but I would still fabricate a small panel similar to the one I have mounted both the StreetPilot and the Valentine remote mounted into........for four reasons.
1)Both the remote and/or the Valentine unit need to be well protected from the weather, a bar mount doesnt do this. 2) A semi-permanent mount means it is less apt to taken by someone with sticky fingers as you catch lunch or take a rest break, when compared to a handlebar mount. Also, I dont worry about taking it off and locking it up when I park the bike. 3) the mounting position being just above the regular dash is a perfect viewing position because your eyes frequently scan it as you look down at your instruments (this is especially important if you don't have its buzzer wired into you helmet speakers) 4) and most important , when pulled over by the law they don't even realize I have a detector on the bike. With a radar detector looking them in the face you odds of talking your way out of a ticket a slim. The thing on the handle bars is a Honda Valkyire CB/radio controller. Very compact and easy to use while riding. More important it really works. It is the best setup I have found, and I have tried several. At one time I even tried a marine radio mounted in my tank bag...too heavy and difficult to operate. With the Honda CB main radio unit is remounted into the GTS plastic tail, under the seat and just in front of the taillight and wrapped in plastic bubble shipping wrap. Again protection from the weather is key to reliable operation with a CB and radio. It is inter connected with a J&M system to connect in a CD, Am-FM, GPS, computer, and mobile phone...though my helmet headset. It isn't a cheap set up but it works much better than all the system I tried to piece together myself. I'm thrilled you found the HawkeOiler worked well. It is going over very well,,,even with Hayabusa owners no less. Here is another positive Email and an interesting Web site made by a customer. "hi John- I got your chain oiler installed on my bike a while back and just wanted to tell you I think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. works really nice. I belong to a couple hayabusa user groups so I did a little "rider review" of the system to let the guys know about it: http://aircraftgallery.com/chainoiler/index.html feel free to lift anything you want for your marketing efforts. Really a first-class product John.
