Oops! RSRBOB, you forgot one small detail in David's appreciation for the
GTS1000! Acceleration, handling, looks AND "long distance riding"!!
Sportbikes just don't go there! The security of ABS....oh, oh, oh, and hard
luggage! Sport touring motorcycles ,by design, do NOT offer the BEST in any
SINGLE element of motorcycle design (except the GTS brakes). They go "one
better" by doing everything WELL.

I parked my GTS in a restaurant parking lot last night waiting for my
family to show up for dinner. I walked away from the bike and turned around
to to look at it from distance and couldn't believe how beautiful and
modern this bike looks after almost 9 years! There is STILL not a sport
touring bike on the market (US) today that can touch it when all objective
and subjective elements are considered. My .02......YMMV.....Some assembly
required.....batteries not included..... :^)

I would love to blast away the cobwebs with triple digit speeds, and I
agree
that for pure acceleration, handling, looks and long distance riding the
GTS
is a fantastic bike. I love this machine and will defend it to the last.

Try a modern day sport bike if you want to experience acceleration and
handling. The GTS as a sport tourer is adequate, but hardly noteworthy when
it comes to comparing it to what a motorcycle can do. Then again modern day
motorcycles are so far superior to most riders they cant appreciate what
the
limits of the bike truly are.
