Hi John, I would love to blast away the cobwebs with triple digit speeds, and I agree that for pure acceleration, handling, looks and long distance riding the GTS is a fantastic bike. I love this machine and will defend it to the last.
However, the surging I am experiencing, along with an over sensitive throttle response means that low top mid speed cornering where I want pin point throttle control is almost impossible to achieve. If I drop the bike down a gear, the Throttle is so sensitive to my input that I can neither dial in more power nor take any off. The throttle is almost an on-off switch between 3k and 5k rpm. If I go up a gear the engine is struggling to pull the bikes weight around the corners, and I simply can't get going as I would like. Can any one suggest what I might look for in the UK, as an alternative to this injector cleaner by Chevron. Ta. I found that the bike's injectors were clogged, which resulted in idle and low speed performance problems that amplified my frustration with the dreaded surging problem. Once the injectors were clean it made fine tuning the system much easier. My last .02 on this subject. But, I learned a long time ago no machine is prefect, I've had a lot worse on other bikes. If you try real hard by holding a constant 2,000 or 3,000 in slow moving traffic I think you can make any motorcycle surge, especially when it has been tuned to meet environmental lean run mode. My solution is to simply drop or move up a gear to another rev range and not worry about it. The GTS performance has too many other pluses to continuously dwell on this slightest of flaws. All I have to do is check the wonderful gas mileage when I fill the tank and smile. I'll live with with it. It is a small price to pay for such great all round performance the GTS gives. Get out an blow the carbon out by running in triple digits for an afternoon to help clean out the injectors and forget about it. .
