I love it when you talk nice about the GTS.....:>) Update on fuel system cleaner and attempts to get my fuel system cleaned up on the old 928. I dropped by one of the local Discount Auto stores on the way home from the office. I couldn't find any of the brands the expert on the 928 list talked about, but I did remember his saying get the stuff in the metal can. It makes sense that stronger concentrated solvents need to be stored on the shelf in metal containers.
Only two brands on the shelf that met that criteria.....both where twice the cost of other brands in plastic bottles. I bought a brand called " Greased Lighting"...guaranteed to work........Ya, like I'm going to send an empty bottle in and ask for my $7.00 back....get real. If it doesn't work it doesn't work. It did mentioned on the label it exceeded all the big three port injector cleanup and Mercedes/BMW M102E intake valve cleanup testing requirements. Anyway......dumped it into less than 1/2 full tank. When I got home, about 5 miles later. I let the engine sit and idle. It was still running very rough and shaking badly. Indicating to me one of the injectors was still partially plugged. It has been like this for a long time, even after dumping a number of other types of cleaners over that last 500 miles into the system, including a couple of large bottles of concentrated Tectron. After about 10 minutes of idling it started smoothing out very noticeably. What ever was in the injector was finally cleaned out. Hopefully it will last. I think a pretty good rule of thumb in buying fuel system cleaner may well be get the stuff than needs to be stored in metal and not plastic. It seems to have made a very rapid difference. Maybe the guy talking about solvent type cleaners knew what he was talking about. I'm not endorsing any product just giving my experience. If it reverses I'll also let you know. I'll add a little to the GTS next time I fill up. hawke > From: Kevin Hawkins <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Reply-To: GTS-1000 Owners List <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Date: Thu, 31 Jan 2002 15:45:38 -0500 > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: Sorry....surging yet again > > Oops!
