Pete:

My experience with Corbin, and mind you, it _was_ over 15 years ago, was
that they didn't follow my very explicit directions. That resulted in my
having to send it back twice, at about $25 each time--doesn't seem like much
now, but it was then--and the finished product was never what I was looking
for. And the saddle using their seat pan, never fit my Suzuki 850 very
well.

After that I got a Russell Day Long saddle, for my Concours, and I had to
send THAT back once because the folks at Russell didn't do what I asked for
the 1st time either, even though I (again) provided explicit instructions
and pictures. However the saddle fit the bike because they used the stock
seat pan.

Last summer I sent my original GTS seat to Rick Mayer (as I understand it,
it was Rick's father who invented the Day Long Saddle). He did a fine job
using my pictures and the phone conversations I had with him, but I expected
to have to send it back at least once to "fine tune" it. However, before I
sent it back, I sent Rick a set of pictures (2) and we discussed what I
wanted done. He got it right, or at least it appears to be so. I've only
ridden about an hour on it, since I got it back. I believe it's as good as
it can be--since the fault (my lack of comfort) is more related to the way
my knees are than the way my tush is--but the saddle appears to fit.

Hope this helps you, Pete.

Simply put, when there are craftsman like Rick Mayer running around, making
IMHO, a saddle that is better than Corbin's, for a HELL OF A LOT LESS than
Corbin, why bother with Corbin, particularly since they require you to use
their seat pan, which in my experience doesn't fit very well.
