John, Sorry I have no tips on getting at it from underneath. I had a similar problem with my Corbin, and here's what worked for me - try sitting on the seat while you turn the key. Once you get the seat off (if you do), put thin washers between the latch and the seat base. It should work more smoothly if you shim it a bit. Regards, Tom
