Bill I regularly experience a similar problem, and like you it doesn't seem related to oil levels. The only thing I've noted is that this seems to occur after the bike's been on the side stand. I wondered if it's possible that the oil doesn't get 'pushed' round efficiently - but that's beyond my know-how ......
