Oh just normal for the GTS.
Since the oil capacity isn't much, the bike cools down, multi viscosity
oil gets thicker at cooler temps (relative - even a warm vs. hot
engine). You start back up and that thicker oil doesn't make it back
down ot the oil pan as quickly as when it is hot. A couple miles, heats
it up, flowing like water again and light goes out. How do I know?
The light is also notorious for coming on when getting hit with a cross
wind from your right.

When I get my pictures, if I ever do, from Long's idiot internet
contractor (Fuji film) (Oh sorry our internet picture site is Unix based
and doesn't work well with browsers! f$%#, what do expect public users
to use!) I'll show you guys a shot of one of the running joke's during
the rally - me intravenoulsy feeding oil to the GTS.
Since I knew the GTS was going to go thru the oil, I had my oil filler
cap machined and tapped to accept a barbed pipe nipple, ran a 5/8' hose
up under the seat to my fuel cell where I have some side pockets big
enough to hold a quart bottle of oil, drilled and mounted another barbed
pipe nipple to a quart oil bottle cap. So whenever, I got gas (about
every 300-400 miles), I just grabbed the oil bottle, turned upside down
and squeezed. Quick, no fuss, no mess. Worked fine in warm weather, hot
weather didn't even have to squeeze, but in colder temps or early
morning was like trying to squeeze thick molasses thru a tiny tube. But
worked great and saved me a lot of time. A couple of times I even
reached back, grabbed the bottle and turned it upside down to add while
running.

Subject: oil light

I've got a new "strange problem" for the list. I just got back from a
trip, running 75 - 85 MPH true speed (GPS) almost all superslab. Most
of the time, when I got back on the highway after a stop the oil light
would come on after 1 mile, stay on for 8 - 10 miles, then go off. This
was irregardless of whether the oil was completely full or down slightly

(if it was down enough, the light would stay on). It was not related
to RPM. Sometimes, if I shut the ignition off, then back on the light
would go out, sometimes it stayed on.

Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone had a problem with the
oil level sensor?

Bill
