  Thomas,

If you are seriously interested in an FJR, there are some available.
Sunnyside Yamaha/Honda has one in the crate as of yesterday. Check out
their website: www.fjrgoodies.com. And their price is reasonable.

I realize this thread is now a couple weeks old, and I must confess I don't
always keep up you guys (but I do peek in occasionally) but..... w/ both
GTS' down right now, (think I stripped the drive sprocket/shaft a couple
weeks ago - haven't had the heart to open it up to find out yet - the
other's STILL in the shop, still waiting to have the fuel injectors
synced).. I finally decided to go down and get the FJR 1300... hah! silly
me. Of everything I read on Yamaha's site, nothing alludes to the fact
  that they're impossible to get.

So I went down to the cycle Show in Long Beach yesterday -- and to add
insult to injury, an FJR1300 pulls up along side of me as we rolled towards
the parking lot :-( -- and made a beeline to the Yamaha booth to
find out what gives. Apparently you needed a $500 deposit down earlier
this year. Even then they were over sold (as mentioned below) and a special
order had to be made to the factory to make good on those sales. No one
really knows anything about the 2004's -- color, ABS, availabilty, etc --
but the only thing I did get out of it was to plop $500 down at my dealer in
  February to reserve the 2004.

Sounds like a really fu__ed way to sell a product if you ask me.
Nevertheless, I'll be putting my bid in for one come Feb... BTW... the
Yamaha rep I spoke w/ yesterday..... turns out to be the owner of the
FJR1300 that I saw sitting in the crate over at Montclair on Sat..... :-(

Here is a message from a good friend of mine who has had a FJR since
  August
maybe. I've been sending him some of the FJR posts from out list.
