I do it the other way round, and completely ignore the web notifications (I suppose you mean the messages behind the bell in the upper right corner). I have also used a milestone once and found it useful to sort issues under a common goal, and I think this has also been the case for some teams. Although the piling up of unfinished milestones makes them less visible. Andreas
