Thanks for adding your thoughts as someone who's only used Codeberg that's really interesting. Specifically on this part, AFAIK the situation is that Apteryx has submitted a PR for a Forgejo package and service. It's referred to at the end of the post, and the PR is this one [0]. As a project I personally don't believe it's in our best interests to host our own instance, unless Codeberg can't handle it's growth etc. We've seen in other areas, that as a small project, we're spread very thin and the more things we take on the more we're diluted. We need the "ability" to self-host if we need to, but I don't think we should unless it's absolutely critical. I also like the fact that Codeberg could/is becoming a place for FOSS to collaborate that's being funded through a different mechanism.
