Depending on how you get the slurry to behave in the
presence of heat and pressure, this could be the
mother of all antipersonnel weapons. If the stuff is
accelerated in droplets, they'll have a massive impact
on anything that can deform elastically - like flesh
and fabric - while splashing and evaporating on all
hard surfaces, so depending on their boiling point,
heat damage will be limited.
The problem I see is that mercury has a boiling point
of around 350°C (356.73 according to wikipedia,
thoungh I'm sceptical of the rounding). For an
explosion to stay under that temperature, it will have
to be very weak. And a slurry that will keep up the
droplet size without evaporating or turning into
particles too small to have an effect will need a very
special kind of liquid to suspend it in. I'm not sure
modern technology has such a material yet. Otherwise,
you make the pieces large enough but that'll just be
DU shrapnel, not exactly innovative.
