I'd disagree. The treads are generally lower and
enclosed.
Legs require articulated joints that have to have
maximum
range of motion. All you need to do is jam a knee
or ankle
and the next step could very well topple the mech
and combat
loss it.
You can still armor a leg better than a tread. a tread
is also much more vulnerable to a mine than a (armored)
foot.
If my tank loses a tread, it's still an effective pillbox
or strong point, capable of directing fire to the targets it
can see. Scrag a mech's leg and you've just lost any combat
effectiveness of the mech.

A mobility killed mech is no less effective than a mobility kill tank. Why
should it be?

Stand up on a soft surface. Then have someone push at your knee from the back and tell me how you wind up when you fall. :-) A tank simply stops. A mech falls over and goes boom, except there's no mommy there to kiss the boo-boo and let Junior go play again. ;-)

The special feet could hinder mobility or the ability
to go
some places.
Not after the attachments are removed ;)
And then when you've left the tarmac of the starport for
the softer farmland beyond, your mech becomes a target stand
because it has been immobilized.

Apparently this is not a problem for humans with skis or snowshoes. i see no
reason for it to be a problem with a mech.

And what about the support teams that will be needed to remove and attach them? Even if support isn't needed, you're kludging something to justify it's acceptance.

Removing parts that you need to travel over most of
the planet isn't a feature, it's a bug.

If you need them over most of the planet, the you'll be wearing them over most
of the planet.

However, if you're in terrain where they'll hinder your movement, like the city, you'll take them off. Step off paved roads, correction, stabilized paved roads, and you're screwed.
