Just cause they are TL 6, and the enemy is TL10, does not mean instant
winning by the TL10. Recent 50 years, has shown that even spear weilding
tribes can defeat an enemy with automatic weapons. Alot having to do with
how things are used, tactics and such.
Major reason for the casualty rates in the US civil war and WW1 was the tech
advanced faster than then tactics and how to use the tech.
Why march men in massed lines, when the tech says you can kill people at 150
yards. The massed line was from the says of Napoleon when the effective
ranger or muskets was 50 yards, and cannon was like 00 or so, but by 1860,
it was more like 150-200 and 1000 yards, add in exploding shells..
