No, the non-Atlantean earth forces really don't have a chance against the Mars attack. This is why the PCs are thinking of a way to attack Mars ;) Sometime in the past, Mars managed to set up several two way gates on Earth, each leading to a specific point on Mars. If it weren't for the PCs discovering one, the Atlanteans still wouldn't know about the gates. There are less than 10 gates and they are only 10' by 10', so they aren't suitable for invasions, but they are useful for recon and -- currently -- direct contact with the Axis. The PCs have destroyed one and are attempting to secure a second. Two others are in Allied-controlled territory. One plan proposed by the Atlanteans -- the most extreme suggestion -- was to destroy the atmosphere processing plant on Mars. Within days, virtually all life on the planet would be dead. Three of the PCs were appaled by the plan, one wanted to personally carry out the attack ;) > Light AA might do better than heavy AA, if it can fire > SAPHE or > API instead of HE/HEPF. Worth noting that one of the suggestions for attacking the rocket launch sites on Mars is to use P-39 Airacobras (which would have to ave their wings removed to get them through a gate), replacing the SAPHE ammo for it's 37mm automatic cannon with AP-type rounds. > TL10 aerospace defenses, on the other hand, should be very > > effective. It mainly comes down to how many ships the Martians throw at earth and how well the Atlantean defense satellites still work.
