Hello everybody, there are plenty of neat suggestions, but unfortunately they break my self-inflicted tech limit -- I want a very late TL5 vehicle, not TL6 or higher.
3E TL(5+1) is a much more awkward game mechanic than 4E TL5^ would be. I have two ground vehicles, plus one in progress, two ships, and an airship, all technically mainstream TL5. I would prefer a design without house rules, and VE75 says that driver and stoker are different crew stations. That means quite a penalty on the driving roll, if the driver tries to do both.
