Long time lurker,

If it's true "space opera" then that's a bit overboard IMHO. Space opera is
riddled with scenes where the starship/starfighter outruns and outmaneuvers the
incoming missile. While it might be permitted by the rules, the *feel* of the
setting should not allow it. More hard sci-fi games (and I use that loosely),
I'd say fair game.

Eddie.

Subject: [gurps] Missile Rules

Say there is a TL13 grav tank. DR 36,000 on front, DR 11,000 on
the sides, HP 4,800, PESA signature -13. Sounds impressive.

However, by the missile rules a TL13 missile can have a speed of
15,600 yards per second and 0.5 seconds endurance. The accel
boggles the mind, especially if it reaches full speed within 3
yards (VE119).

Seekers won't be an issue because the flight time is less than a
turn. Simply program the inertial guidance with the current
position of the target. Or fire an unguided rocket.

Is that abusing the rules, or fair play for a space opera TL?

Regards,
Onno
