Well, there are plenty of assumptions and options in there.

Do we have a single AI getting self-aware, which then corrupts the lesser
computers/robots (your Droids)?

- Why does that AI turn anti-human? It almost doesn't matter, because it
is just one -- it may be insane, it may be perfectly logical, who can
tell without more self-aware AIs to compare?
- How does the AI corrupt the other robots? If they are not self-aware,
we're talking about a "normal" hacking attack. Even if the AI is the
best hacker in the setting, just how incompetent were the security
  programmers?
- A daring strike against that one self-aware AI could stop the genocidal
crusade. Sounds like a job for the player characters.
- Do the AI and the robotic henchmen have the means to build more robots
and new AIs? Or do they need humans somewhere in the process, because
there are no robots for a crucial step? What could that be? If so, how
do they get their slaves, and how do they deal with them?

The first self-aware AI turns against humanity, then awakens more AIs who
become self-aware, and together they corrupt the robots.

- Are the AIs an united front? Why? Because the initial AI was against
humans? If the other AIs are self-aware, can they decide differently?
There could be a lone "good guy" AI, as patron for the player character
  resistance fighters.
- Even if all AIs agree on the goal, do they agree on the means?
- Are there uncorrupted AIs left? Are they less capable than self-aware,
  corrupted AIs?

cf GURPS Reign of Steel

There is a robot civilization, which has been independent for a long
time. Now it turns against organic beings.

- What is the social organization of the robots? Monarchy? Meritocracy?
  Democracy? Theocracy?
- What made them turn against humans? Did they decide that humans were
a clear and present danger to their survival? Were they right or
  wrong?
- Was there more than one robot civilization, and were there self-aware
AIs in the mostly organic civilization? Which side did they take?
- Can there be mixed civilizations, or are the AIs so superior that
humans are just pets? Compare the ship Minds in Iain Banks' Culture
  setting.

cf GURPS Ogre

Just how large is the playing field? The entire universe? A galaxy? A
part of the galaxy? A system? Can one side leave the battlefield and
try to hide?

- Is surrender an option, or just a quicker way to die?
- Can an engaged faction break contact long enough to vanish?

cf the Safehold series by David Weber, even if the threat isn't robots.

Are you telling a feel-good story of plucky underdogs (the humans) who
fight against overwhelming odds (the robots)?

Or is it a depressing story, or perhaps a cautionary tale, of bleak
struggles ending in tragedy?

Onno
