Holding horses. Greeting and announcing guests. Handing out basins and towels after the dusty trip. Carrying a litter. If they impersonate domestic slaves, they could be shaven and barechested, if they're "decorative" enough. They could have let their hair grow again ever since the last caper, when was that? A month or two of growth are really visible.
