The name helped with the search:

There was an episode where Carter used a missile from a crashed drone
to shoot somebody.

For a TV show or a roleplaying game it makes sense to use a small squad
with support equipment like a mule. So how do you explain it if you
don't just want to say "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain"?

* The vehicles must function in a wide range of environments. That means
no internal combustion engines. Most late 20th century vehicles won't
qualify, then. Problem: If the characters are air-breathing, where is
  the objection against air-breathing vehicles?

* On many worlds, the gate is in a building/temple/whatever. Usually
vehicles just don't work. Problem: There will still be enough worlds
  to justify a vehicle fleet.

* The player characters are not THE stargate team, they're just one
among many. Want a Blackhawk? Maybe next fiscal year. In the meantime,
  carry on and soldier.

Or the party has a choice of vehicles, after all. That's the option for
a vehicle fan like me.

- A Super-HMMWV for deserts, grassland, etc. 4x4, amphibious, a front
winch, commo and sensors, several pintle-mounted weapons for all
  occasions.

- A tracked snow and swamp vehicle.

- A helicopter if they're in a hurry, and don't mind the limited
endurance. Stealth, door guns, missiles, mast-mounted sight.

- A small, low-endurance starship (relatively speaking). Instead of
bunkrooms, there are just seats, because the home base is usually
just a gate away. There needs to be an excuse why it isn't used
  all the time, however.

Onno
